AMERICAN Ducati rider John Kocinski was the fastest rider in Sunday's final of the World Superbike shakedown tests at the Albacete track in Spain.

Kocinski was almost a full second faster than rival Troy Corser with Castrol Honda's Carl Fogarty fourth fastest with his best lap from Saturday's session.

Burnley's Neil Hodgson, Fogarty's team-mate at Ducati next season, was just five thousandths of a second behind his East Lancashire friend and rival.

"It was too hot for me to go quick today," said Fogarty. "I spent my time on the track trying to work out some gearing for next week's races."

The 11th and penultimate round of the series will be held at Albacete next Sunday.

Fogarty's Castrol Honda team-mate Aaron Slight, sixth fastest in the tests, leads the series by seven points from Corser.

The Blackburn rider is 15 points behind Corser with Kocinski fourth in the closely-fought series.
