WALKERS strode out to raise cash for a church fund, when members of Christ Church, Accrington, went on a 12 mile sponsored walk to raise money for their millennium appeal.
The church is hoping for a refurbishment as well as establishing a drop-in centre and other community projects by the year 2000.
Dozens of members took part in the Ted Drake Memorial walk along the canal towpath at Hapton and they included Kathleen Smith, aged 80.
The walk is named in memory of former member Ted Drake, who used to organise charity walks for the church each year.
