A MAN who plans to build a dog track in Darwen is trying to finance it by selling his life story.
Steptoe, alias Bob Wilson, of Darwen Car Dismantlers, is hoping to transform his Goosehouse Lane site in Darwen.
In a bid to finance the plan Bob has written and published his autobiography, but was shocked to discover how much book stores wanted to stock the volume.
So now the entrepreneur, whose nickname comes from the likeable TV character, has opened his own bookstore in Blackburn, stocked entirely with volumes of his book - 'Life Begins at Twelve.'
The shop in Darwen Street, has been refurbished and is due to open in a few days.
Bob said: "I couldn't believe how much profit these book stores wanted to make. So I decided to sell the books myself."
He said that he was also seeking grant aid from the National Lotteries Sports Fund and Europe to help bring dog racing back to Darwen.
Blackburn Council gave planning permission for the dog track to go ahead at a meeting last month.
