HAS Blackburn Council no shame? The Lancashire Evening Telegraph consistently reports disaster on disaster - the new town hall falls apart regularly; more than 1,000 council houses, fewer than 20 years old, are just blown away; losses on the markets are unquantifiable and the town has 20,000 unfit houses, compounded by negative housing policies.
Somebody just walks into the town hall and walks off with the Mayor's regalia, £30,000 just disappears from a drawer; a brand-new incinerator to destroy the town's rubbish cracks in half; an abattoir, when built, was obsolete; the list goes on, ad infinitum.
Then, there is the bobby dazzler of them all - Ainsworth Street, which was one catastrophe after another throughout its long-winded construction, is now falling apart after such a short time. What is the Council doing? Are they so wrapped up in their socialist thoughts, or are they just incapable of understanding the magnitude of running a town?
Why are they not holding public inquiries? What is happening to taxpayers' money?
Are there no officers with responsibility to oversee the quality of works that the council is having done with our money?
This Labour-run council has a lot to answer for. According to the Evening Telegraph, one councillor is organising meetings on how to offer advice to a future Labour government on how to run the country.
If the administration of Blackburn is an example, God help the county.
