BURNLEY Football Club manager Frank Casper resigned from the club following a slide in the Clarets' form. His assistant manager Jimmy Mullen took charge of team matters until a new appointment.
An armed raider escaped with £200 in cash from Avenue Service Station, Casterton Avenue, Burnley. Owner Neil Edwards had the barrel of a gun pointed in his face before the thief grabbed the till money.
