Shrewsbury Town Reserves 1 Burnley Reserves 1
BURNLEY Reserves picked up a hard-earned point with a battling display at Gay Meadow last night.
The Turf Moor injury crisis meant that coach Harry Wilson was forced to field his youngest ever Burnley side with only goalkeeper Wayne Russell having had first team experience.
There was debut for rookie defender Chris Scott while Jason Heffernan was one of the Clarets stars in defence.
A Phil Eastwood penalty gave Burnley the lead in the 20th minute before Shrewsbury levelled before half-time.
"The lads fought really well and a point was a just reward for their efforts," said coach Harry Wilson.
Burnley: Russell, Scott, Heffernan, Pennington, West, Duerden, Bowden, Webster, Mutton, Carr-Lawton, Eastwood.
