YOUNG people who have made important contributions to community life will be honoured at a special ceremony.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Maureen Bateson will present the council's community action awards in Blackburn town hall on Monday.
Students from Blackburn College who refurbished the library at Cedars Infant School in Blackburn have scooped the schools and colleges section. The individual prize will go to St Mary's College student Fiona Connolly for her work in raising cash for - and awareness of - multiple sclerosis.
Eighteen-year-old Jason Walker from Blackburn's Wimberley estate will pick up the community project prize for the series of activities he organised on the estate.
Darwen Youth Theatre have secured the youth group prize for the second year running for their production of West Side Story.
The award scheme, backed by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, was launched last year to highlight the work of the borough's many unsung heroes.
