CRUEL vandals spoiled a Cubs and Scouts swimming gala when they threw a brick through a sports centre window.
Hyndburn District Cub Scout annual gala came to an untimely end when shattered glass was sent spraying into the swimming pool at Hyndburn Sports Centre.
And a Scout leader's car was also vandalised in the attack.
Hyndburn District Commissioner of Scouting Joe Clayton is upset about the attack which he said spoiled the fun of dozens of youngsters.
"Unfortunately, somebody decided it wasn't going to be our night for having fun so they threw a brick through the window and spoiled it for everyone.
"There was glass everywhere, by the side of the pool and also in the water.
"It was just too dangerous to go on so we had to bring the event to an early close."
Trophies and medals were awarded according to the best heat times.
In the cub section joint first prize went to 109 Loyola Bagheera, of Oswaldtwistle, and St Wulstan's, of Great Harwood, with All Saints, of Clayton-le-Moors, in third place.
For the Scouts 109 Loyola Hargreaves troop, Oswaldtwistle, picked up first prize with St Paul's of Oswaldtwistle in second place and 109 Loyola Peel troop, Oswaldtwistle, third.
