A JOBS and training programme for young people has been named the best in England.
East Lancashire Training and Enterprise Council's XTEND scheme came out on top in the Training and Enterprise Council league tables.
The survey found XTEND helps young people gain more National Vocational Qualifications per 100 school leavers than anywhere else.
It also came equal first in meeting the Government Guarantee, which ensures there are enough places to cover every school leaver.
ELTEC education and development director Andy Fawcett said: "This is testimony to the support XTEND enjoys from schools, colleges, training providers and employers, but it also reflects the enthusiasm of the local young people who increasingly choose the XTEND route to employment."
