LEGENDARY performers George Formby, Charlie Cairoli and Les Dawson are all stars of yesteryear who have helped make Blackpool the entertainment capital of the UK.
Today, Blackpool's star-struck reputation remains strong as the town is still sprouting a hotbed of talent.
The latest discoveries will all feature in a new weekly TV show called Stuart's Hall of Fame, hosted by Stuart Hall.
Five Fylde favourites all took to the stage recently to record for the show live at the Hollywood Bowl - at Granada Studios, that is.
Michael Davis of Winster Place, Little Marton, played his trumpet at the Manchester venue for a live audience - and the nine-year-old certainly kicked off his musical career in style.
Vocalist Tony Clarke, 30 of Springfield Road, also experienced a moment of stardom with his speciality yodelling, as did singer Shelley Williams, 16, of Charnley Road. Other Fylde acts for the show include magician Joe Riding of Dawson Road, Lytham St Annes, and vocalist Tommy Clarke who lives on Princess Street in Blackpool.
A spokesman said of the new show, to be broadcast weekly on the Granada Plus Cable and Satellite channel: "Talented but still undiscovered entertainers are given the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.
"The second set of filming will take place on Saturday and visitors to the Granada Studios Tour will have the opportunity to watch filming first hand, cheer for their favourite act or even be chosen to perform in front of the cameras themselves."
Budding performers should contact Eamonn O'Neill on 0161 832 7211 for the chance to audition.
