DIVERSE indie band Space landed in Preston to sign autographs for eager fans - before playing a one-off concert at the University of Central Lancashire.
The scousers stopped off at Rooster Records, Market Street, on Monday, to promote their new single Neighbourhood.
Over a hundred fervent fans queued for half an hour to catch a glimpse of their idols and get CDs and posters signed.
Preston student Laura Simpson, 18, who was lucky enough to chat with the band, said: "They were really, really friendly. It is nice to see a band going to an independent record store."
Stephen Mellows, 17, from Preston, said: "It is good they came. They are a good band and they are friendly lads."
The band, who are in the middle of a 22-concert tour, admitted that they had never been to Preston before.
Singer Jamie Murphy said: "I have not seen much of the place but but everyone seems dead nice. We love the fans, they are our living."
Frannie Griffiths, the band's keyboard player, added: "It is the first time I have ever been here but the place seems nice enough. Everyone is very polite.
