FOUR wacky friends are off on a 24-hour money-making fancy-dress trip to France this weekend (October 12-13).
The four, who all work at cardboard manufacturers Smurfit Corrugated, of Nelson, are competing in the Beerjolais run in aid of the Scope charity. Sue Crossley, Philip Ball, Sharon Earnshaw and Gary Belshaw have to take a 20 kilo barrel from Sheffield to Chantilly, near Paris.
The travellers had to promise to collect £1,000 before being allowed to take part in the contest. The Walker Farrimond garage at Nelson has loaned them a Nissan people carrier for the trip.
