LOCAL businessman Peter Tyer has sold the Logwood Mill Hotel and Leisure Club and Derby Lodge Hotel to the Greenalls Group plc for £11 million.
The 61-bedroomed Logwood Mill Hotel on Fallows Way, Whiston, which has a successful leisure club that boasts more than 4,000 members, as well as conference facilities, restaurant and bar, will become a Village Hotel.
The excellent health and fitness facilities, which are the trademark of Village Leisure, include a 24-metre swimming pool and substantial hi-tech gym. And there are plans to expand the hotel with the addition of 40 bedrooms.
The Derby Lodge Hotel and the adjoining Natterjack public house have been acquired as part of the package for development at a cost of £1.3 million. The 19th-century sandstone building will be re-developed into a Henry's Table restaurant and the hotel will become a Premier Lodge with the existing bedrooms upgraded. There are also plans to add a further 44 bedrooms.
