INDUSTRIALISTS from across East Lancashire competed against the clock on a gruelling assault course and raised £20,000 for charity.

Marie Curie Cancer Care benefited from the stint at the British Army base in Aldershot.

The assault course challenge was sponsored by Homebase, the house and garden annexe of Sainsbury's.

Wilmans Lunch Boxes, a team made up of staff from John Wilman, Nelson, took first place in the 1996 challenge with the Borden Decorative Products team from Darwen - the Half Crowned - in second place.

The two companies also fielded second and third place in the intermediate competition with Coloroll Brontesaurs, from Wilman's and Half Crowned II from Borden taking the glory.
