THE Royal National Lifeboat Institution is supported entirely by voluntary contributions. This year, it is costing more than £63 million to run the lifeboat service.
Our brave volunteer crews are always willing to face the perils that the sea can bring, but they must have the best boats and equipment to carry out their vital task of saving life at sea.
I am asking your readers to come 'on board' the Lifeboat Service and help us to raise much-needed funds by supporting our Jewellery Appeal, which raises over £20,000 annually.
Items we should be pleased to receive are rings of all kinds, brooches, bracelets, chains and necklaces of all types, watches and watch chains, cufflinks and silver and gold items of all kinds, no matter how old or damaged.
We should also welcome any unwanted war medals and decorations, badges and war memorabilia, again no matter how old.
Please send any of your unwanted items to the RNLI Headquarters, West Quay Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1HZ, marked for the attention of R E Norgrove, MBE, JP.
R E NORGROVE, MBE, JP, Jewellery Appeal Organiser.
