Accrington Stanley 1 Leek Town 2
STANLEY were forced to pay dearly for missing their chances after dominating the first half at the Crown Ground.
They failed to convert territorial advantage onto the scoreboard.
On five minutes Brett Ormerod headed Brian Welsh's cross narrowly wide. Two minutes later Stanley had a shot cleared off the line following good work from Edmonds. Just before half time Taylor was guilty of missing the best chance of the half when he missed an open goal from Edmonds' cross. On the hour Welsh had a shot cleared for a corner from which Baldwin headed wide.
The visitors were struggling. But on 75 minutes they demonstrated a sharp cutting edge when Steve Soley found himself unmarked from 30 yards out and hit an unstoppable shot that sailed into the top corner of the net. Within five minutes, manager Tony Greenwood sent defender Darren Quick upfield to try to salvage something from the game. But three minutes later Bancroft collected a loose ball, cut inside and struck the ball from 25 yards out to increase the visitors' lead.
One minute later Brett Ormerod pulled a goal back for Stanley following Welsh's cross. But all was in vain.
