HAVING recently attended a seminar on the subject of 'Uniting Britain' at Daneshouse and Stoneyholme Community Centre in Burnley - a building which is magnificent with sports a reception area, community hall, cafeteria and sports barn - I must condemn the town's Labour-controlled council for allowing other areas of the town to become run-down and dilapidated.
It is time their pathetic excuses, designed to deflect blame and criticism, were exposed.
Having read many local newspapers and listened to many local people on the subject of Burnley Council, it is plain that their sad performance over the years is nothing less than one would expect from a council too busy giving priority to certain sections of the community on whom they rely heavily at election time.
Healywood residents should not have to raise a petition in order to force their council to clean up an area infested with rats.
It is now time our council started treating everyone on an equal basis.
