RAIL links between Rosegrove, Burnley and Hebden Bridge were closed after the derailment of a good train near Todmorden.
The trucks overturned, spilling tons of coal over the lines and all power to the area was cut off as clearing operations got under way. No-one was injured.
The headteacher of closure-threatened Everton High School, Blackburn, said a district review would come too late to save it.
