If "Local gun collector" is interested in shooting for sport, why does he need a collection?
As for the mental state of people who legally own guns, does he not read the national newspapers?
All the recent atrocities have been committed by legally held firearms and the 'nuts' who have been allowed to have them.
If a person 'flips' and has a weapon with which he is conversant, then that is the weapon he is most likely to use. Remember, these weapons kill from a distance and the only way to stop such a person quickly would be to shoot them, but not everyone carries guns.
There is no valid reason for having a gun at home, and if people are allowed to use guns, they should be safely locked in an armoury.
By the way, if this person is so passionate about his cause why does he not sign his correspondence?
