SUPERMODELS Claudia, Naomi and Cindy are not a patch on the blonde, long-legged and glamorous Babe.
And super Babe, along with her muscle-bound sidekick Kev, will be performing a fast and furious one-night stand of comedy and kitsch at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool, on Sunday November 3 at 7.30pm.
Entitled Kev and Babe: a Day in the Life of a Supermodel, the characters in the play are based on world-famous glamour dolls Ken and Barbie - after whom the play was originally named.
But playwright Stephen Dinsdale, who wrote the highly successful play Anorak of Fire - seen at the Grand Theatre last year - experienced some copyright problems with toy manufacturers Mattel UK Limited by using the well-known household names and renamed the two characters.
Kev is an all-action hero in love with his gun and so proud to be macho, while Babe is a vain, loathsome creature who is deeply in love with herself and hooked on money and fashion.
The pair are thrown together by cruel fate to battle it out in their luxury pink world of sex, body-building and bulimia.
It's a controversial and highly amusing show which contains easy-listening music from Adrian Johnston - from Mike Flowers' Pops - and a riotous, colourful array of '70s-style costumes.
The show was a sell-out success at Edinburgh's Gilded Balloon during the 1995 Festival and promises to give its Blackpool audience the same thrill.
Parents should be warned that the show is not particularly suitable for young children, despite the characters being based on the famous toys.
Tickets are priced from £5 to £8 and are available from the box office at the Grand, which can be contacted on 28372.
