Clitheroe 1 v Darwen 1
CLITHEROE go into the next round of the Floodlit Trophy after maintaining their two-goal advantage from the first leg a fortnight ago.
Clitheroe were reduced to 10 men after an hour when full back Les Thompson was sent off for dangerous play.
On the night, a draw seemed a fair result.
Both sides, in the first half, were lacking the killer touch and both defences were on top. Both keepers had little to do and the Blues were content to sit on their first leg lead.
Half time: 0-0.
Darwen failed to take advantage of Clitheroe's 10 men and on 50 minutes Paul Mullin gave Clitheroe the lead following a pass from John Penman.
A brilliant save from teenager James Goodman kept Darwen out at the other end. Darwen keeper Rob Batty pulled off a point-blank save from Penman and with only five minutes left, Mark Walsh equalised beating the keeper from close range.
