COLNE Town Hall - Pendle's finest civic building - will soon be a more welcoming place.
The Victorian building is to get a lift so elderly and disabled people can reach the first-floor offices and council chamber.
The cost of a lift and new toilets for the disabled, will be £39,000.
The go-ahead was given by councillors this week. They see the work as the first stage of a project to bring the building back to its former glory.
Officials from English Heritage are coming to look round the building in the hope they will back Pendle's bid to get national lottery cash.
