LEIGH RU moved into league No 2 slot with a thrilling 23-18 win against Old Salians.

They began well when Matthew Brown set up a try for Ross Bullough with Mark Hudspith adding the goal.

But Salians bounced back and took the interval advantage. A Hudspith penalty closed the gap, then Brown and Ross Fletcher powered in for match-winning tries.

Nick Aspinall had a superb game in the second row while the back row of Fletcher and Bullough had their best games for the club.

Leigh 2nd won 10-6 at Old Salians with the midfield trio of Andy Billinge, David Clegg and Clive Hunter cutting great holes in the defence.

Clegg and Barry Gallagher went over for tries.

Leigh 3rd beat Old Salians 22-12 with tries by Pierce (a sterling performance) 2, Kenwright and Travers.
