A TEAM of dedicated doctors and nurses from St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals Trust are heading a mercy mission to Burkina Faso in West Africa to perform 250 eye operations and attend to more than 1,000 patients.
The team, who will spend a month in a poverty-stricken village, leave for Africa on November 14.
Those taking part include eye surgeons Jose Ramon Villada and Maite Arrazola, anaesthetist Robin Macmillan, nurses Cynthia Penketh and Chelo Ledo, care assistant Lynne Dearden and clerical officer Clare Richardson.
