HERE are the winners of the second St Helens Open Art Competition:
Peter Edge, £1,000 (Rainford Trust Prize) most accomplished work in the exhibition; Daniel Clahane, £500 (Granada Foundation Prize) 3D prize; Mandy Beck, £500 (Sir Alastair Pilkington Trust) 2D prize; Rachel Coleman, £500 Textile prize; Fiona Stirling, £250 (materials donated by Rennies Arts and Crafts); David Stanley, £250 (St Helens College Prize) to a local resident; Harold Critchley, £100 (United Glass Prize); Hilary Ellis, (£100 (Tyrers Department Store, St Helens, prize).
Eight winners of £100 each are Alastair Adams, James Bartholomew, Joyce Coulton, Stan Dobbin, David Firmstone, Audrey Helliar, Marie Peppercorn, Steve West.
In addition, four people who took part in the Open Art Competition have been chosen to display some of their work at The Piccadilly Gallery, Court Road, London, which is owned by Godfrey Pilkington. They are Derek Boak, Head of Art at Sutton Community High School, Stephanie Bithell, Peter Edge and John Haslam.
