FORMER Leigh East councillor Terry Harper has received an offer from his Tory rivals: "Join us!"
Ed Young, who hopes to be Leigh's next MP, said: "Politics aside, Terry did a good job as social services boss. His Labour friends in Wigan have treated him like mud. He'll be made welcome if he decides to 'cross the floor' to our side."
David Morris, local businessman and Conservative spokesman, added: "We've had lots of membership enquiries in the last few months. There'll be a pint waiting at the club bar if he decides to join us."
Mr Morris is tipped as the Tory candidate in the Leigh East by-election caused by Mr Harper's resignation.
"The by-election has been caused by Labour squabbling," said Ed Young. "I'm sure the voters of Leigh
East will express their feelings to Wigan Metro."
