PEOPLE from the Burnley area have been presented with awards by the Chief Constable for their outstanding courage.

Accounts worker Stanley Galawan, of Burnley, was pistol whipped by an armed masked pay-roll raider. He grabbed and unmasked the man to stop the robbery.
Police officers Andrew Moore and Neil Munro were honoured for their part in stopping a building society robbery in Burnley where a man was threatening staff with a shotgun.
Their colleagues, PCs Adam Gordon and Simon Butterworth faced danger when they tackled a woman who was intent on stabbing her boyfriend with an eight-inch knife.
Paul Brothwood, of Read, rugby tackled a man who had just shot his wife with a rifle. He went into action in Whalley town centre as the husband was taking aim for a second time.
