Colwyn Bay 1 Lancaster City 1 Lancaster travelled to Colwyn Bay for a Unibond Premier League clash on Tuesday night, putting a hold on their preparations for Saturday's FA Cup derby.
And they will be relieved to have come away from the game without any further injuries following a scrappy confrontation littered with fouls, eight bookings and one sending off.
City got off to a good start with John Coleman forcing an excellent save from Richie Roberts in the Bay net.
From the resulting corner, Stuart Gelling drilled a shot through the crowded penalty area and into the net to give City the lead.
from that moment on, the game degenerated into a series of fouls with Harley, McGuillan and Jones for Colwyn Bay and Flannery and Gelling for City all being booked within the space of 11 crazy minutes.
Both sides settled down and Coleman almost extended City's lead while Peter Donnelly, Tommy Jones and Matthew McGuillan all came close to equalising for the home side.
Colwyn were reduced to 10 men when Graham Roberts was sent off after 63 minutes following a collision with Mark Shirley.
Despite that, they equalised after 75 minutes when they were awarded an indirect free kick inside City's penalty area and Neil Rigby squared the ball for substitute Craig Didson to curl a shot into the corner of the net.
City almost snatched a winner when an excellent through ball from Gelling set Carl Macauley free but Roberts just managed to deflect his shot for a corner.
