A PREGNANT mum, who was locked in a race against time to get to hospital, gave birth in the back of an ambulance.
Midwives delivered the bouncing baby girl after Sajeda Chand unexpectedly went into labour.
The ambulance was called after the baby decided it was going to make a dramatic arrival into the world.
The 22-year-old was rushed to Queen's Park hospital, Blackburn on Wednesday, where a team of nurses and midwives were waiting. They safely delivered the 6lb 5oz bundle of joy with the help of ambulance technician Sue Young and paramedic Chris Ralph.
Sajeda, who also has a two-year-old son Aamir, and her daughter are doing well in the maternity unit. The baby is expected to be called Maria.
