A £2.8 million rejuvenation scheme was announced by the Government for the rundown Fern Gore area of Accrington. The 181 houses earmarked for improvements were sited high above the town.
NORWEB chiefs ruled out hopes of a pre-Christmas cash refund for thousands of East Lancashire households. The company hinted that any overcharging would be taken into account when the new rates were set.
