Blackburn Rovers Res 2 Tranmere Res 3
AN eventful game saw Rovers Reserves suffer their first defeat in four games against a very experienced Tranmere side.
Trailing 1-0 to a Pat Nevin goal, after a first half when chances were few and far between, Rovers hit back to equalise on 50 minutes.
A throw from Gary Croft was headed on by James Beattie for Niklas Gudmundsson to head home.
Five minutes later, Rovers went ahead with a superb 25-yard volley from Thomas Morgan. But the lead was short-lived.
The turning point in the game came after 62 minutes when the impressive Marlon Broomes put a header against a Tranmere post and the visitors went straight down to equalise through another young player to take the eye, Graham Branch.
Tranmere's winner came on 77 minutes when Ivano Bonetti scored from close range after another cross from the game's best player, Kevin McIntyre.
Rovers: Given, Reed, Coughlan, Broomes, Croft, Morgan, Gill, Holmes, Duff, Gudmundsson, Beattie.
