A CAMPAIGN has been launched to make old folk aware of crime and security issues.
Blackburn and District Age Concern has produced leaflets which give details on such issues as home security and dealing with callers.
Talks are also being staged at pensioners' clubs and community groups and anyone worried about crime or security is being urged to get in touch with Age Concern.
Information officer Kevin Durkin said: "Crime and security are of great concern to older people in this area.
"We want to share simple measures that can make people safer and dispel the myth that older people are more at risk from crime than any other age group.
"However, we are concerned about the bogus callers who prey on older people and we say 'if in doubt, don't let them in.'"
Copies of 'Security and Older People' leaflets are available from Age Concern offices, 4 King Street, Blackburn and 11 Union Street, Darwen, or by calling 01254 664242/773440.
