THE public will be asked for their views on plans for the future of Bury town centre.
Two exhibition days have been set up when residents can take a look at the proposals which form part of the Bury Town Centre Management Scheme.
The aim is to encourage the regeneration of the town by reducing the number of town centre vehicles, improving the general environment, encouraging greater use of public transport and making the streets safer for pedestrians.
As a result, it is hoped that tourism will be boosted and retail and commercial activity will increase.
A public consultation period will run until mid-November. This will involve distributing an information leaflet and questionnaire outlining the proposals and two exhibition days.
The first will be held at the Met in Market Street on October 29 from 10am to 4pm. The second will be on October 30 at the Castle Leisure Centre. Council officers will be at both events to answer questions and queries.
Copies of the leaflet can also be obtained from Mark Edwards by phoning 0161 253 5816.
