A MEDICAL firm looks set to be taken over in a multi million pound deal.
American firm Furon has made an offer for Medex, which employs 270 at its site in Haslingden.
And Nigel Perry, European Vice President Operations, based at the St Crispen Way site, said the move would be good news.
"The response from people here has been very good. I think employees understand that it is a positive move for the company.
"Furon are keen to grow the business and there are many exciting opportunities for us."
Furon, based in California, is a major firm with operations throughout America and Europe.
Medex, which has been in East Lancashire for more than 11 years, manufactures disposable medical products for hospitals and the healthcare industry.
A statement issued by Medex in America said that the process of purchasing the firm would take several months and that, until the deal was finalised, the company would continue to function as usual.
It said management were optimistic that the takeover represented opportunities that would have been difficult for the two companies to take advantage of on their own.
