A BOGUS official tricked an elderly woman into letting him into her home where he stole her purse.
He struck on Exe Street, Preston, at 11am on November 4, claiming that he had to check the tap water for discoloration.
Police are appealing for neighbours to come forward with any information.
The man made off with £100 in cash. He is described as white, clean shaven, about 30 years old and 5ft 8ins tall with short dark hair and a brown leather jacket.
A similar offence occurred on Brackenbury Road, at 2pm on November 5, when a man stole £30 from and 81-year-old woman. He was also aboit 30 years old and clean shaven. Call police on 203203 if you have any information.
