Blackburn Rovers have teamed up with sponsors Co-Operative Insurance Society to launch the club worldwide - on the internet.
CIS established its own site earlier this year and now they have helped Rovers land on the World Wide Web. The new service gives details on fixtures, ticket availability, supporters club activities and away travel arrangements. Player profiles with colour photographs, interviews and history of the club are also incorporated. Rovers believe that the publicity will not only market the club more widely to football fans but also promote commercial opportunities, such as matchday hospitality and advertising, to businesses.
Keith Anderson, Rovers' Head of Sales and Marketing, said: "We are proud of the range of facilities now available at the club, which are among the most up-to-date in the Premier League. Our internet site is the most recent development."
CIS expect to benefit too. Spokesman Martin Clarke said: "We think fans will be interested in information about CIS as sponsor as well as the club and see it as as useful marketing opportunity."
