ALAN WHALLEY'S WORLD
CALLING all those gallant grannies who served their country as munitions workers during the 1939-45 world war.
Celia Wilson of Dentons Green would love to have a word with you.
She tells me: "I am currently studying a women's history course at St Helens College and as part of this we are required to prepare a seminar and talk on a chosen subject. I decided on what I thought was a very interesting local history subject - women munitions workers in St Helens during the second world war.
"However, that's where I have become unstuck." For Celia has been unable to find much material on the subject in the local archives.
"I am now asking for help in appealing to any local ladies who worked in that industry to contact me, so I can write down any of their memories about that time."
IF you're able to oblige, then please drop Celia Wilson a line at her home, 42 Kiln Lane, Dentons Green, St Helens WA10 6AH; or give her a buzz on St Helens 607487.
