Report by Tony Dewhurst GLENTORAN star Glen Little has told Burnley: "I'd love to sign for the club."
The 21-year-old midfield ace is still a target for the Clarets and manager Adrian Heath will this weekend attempt to thrash out a fee with the Irish League side.
Little, who scored the winning goal in the Irish Cup final against Glenavon at Windsor Park, said: "I've heard all the talk about the link with Burnley and I'm hoping it will work out. But I'm still waiting to hear anything definite.
"I want to re-launch my career in the Football League and I'd love to do it with Burnley.
"I spent a few very enjoyable days there and I loved every minute of it. I joined in the training sessions and I was really impressed with the facilities and the manager. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the transfer goes through."
The stumbling block with Glentoran appears to be a fee. Irish sources suggest that Glentoran boss and ex-Claret Tommy Cassidy is unwilling to let his Young Player of the Year leave for less than £100,000.
"Glen is highly thought of at Glentoran and he is a big favourite with the supporters," said a Belfast Evening Telegraph correspondent. Little, who served his apprenticeship with Crystal Palace, was released from his Selhurst Park contract at 18. He is still based in London and makes the weekly trip over to Northern Ireland on a Friday. Last weekend he set up two goals as Glentoran slipped to a narrow 4-3 defeat at Ards.
"I usually play on the right side but I'm fairly adaptable, " he added. "I certainly don't class myself just as a winger.
"I got friendly with Ian Duerden (Burnley reserve) who was at Glentoran recently. I also know Damian Matthew well from my time with Palace and he remains a good friend. So I already know quite a bit about Burnley. They are a big club and I'd love to be part of what Adrian Heath is building up there."
