A HERO who came to the aid of a woman who had been shot in the stomach has paid a glowing tribute to the police.
Daring Dino Christodoulou, 32, received a bravery award from Lancashire's Chief Constable Pauline Clare.
The social therapy nurse at Park Lee Hospital, Blackburn, was honoured for stepping in and disarming a gunman after Margaret Sillitoe had been shot at point-blank range in King Street, Whalley, last March.
But Dino said the praise should be reserved for police who he said did a "marvellous job."
He said: "The police often get a bad press and come in for a lot of stick.
"But at the awards ceremony they were really brilliant and really looked after everybody who was there. It was a great night."
He was nominated for the award by Lancashire police.
