CLASS 9H at Gawthorpe High School, Padiham, is holding a week of events to highlight treatment and torture overseas.

The class joined Amnesty International three years ago and is holding special assemblies this week to highlight the suffering of prisoners and children in Mexico, China and Turkey.

They are also signing a petition against the torture of children in Turkey and will write to Prime Minister John Major and the Prime Minister of Turkey complaining about Britain's sale of stun batons to Turkey.

The 26-strong class is selling raffle tickets and goods in the school to raise money for Amnesty International.
