HASLINGDEN professional Brad McNamara has survived a career-threatening doubt over his bowling action.

The New South Wales all-rounder was reported for throwing by the umpires in a state game at the start of the Australian season.

But an Australian Cricket Board inquiry cleared the pace bowler.

And McNamara bounced back to take a career-best six-wicket return in the following Mercantile Mutual Cup one-day fixture at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

It was reported that McNamara had considered legal action in a bid to prove his action was legitimate.

He said: "Reports of legal action were way off beam.

"A couple of solicitors rang me and asked if I wanted to pursue it further.

"It could have wrecked my career.

"But you have to put these things out of your mind and get on with it."

McNamara was delighted with his on-field response to the allegations.

"I knew if I played long enough I would get one day when everything went well and that day was mine," he said.
