MOTORWAY drivers face three weeks of delays and Traffic queues as work on repairing a short stretch of the M65 goes ahead.
One of two lanes heading east towards Colne has been closed off and there is a 50mph speed restriction around junction 12, the Brierfield turn-off.
Contractors are working on an embankment separating the motorway from Lomeshaye Industrial Estate which has been slipping, causing a slight dip in the road.
Highway engineers also plan to resurface part of the carriageway.
The eastbound lanes will be closed completely from 7pm on December 6 to 7am on December 9. The carriageway may have to be closed at the same times the following weekend if the work is not completed. Traffic will be diverted via the A56.
Traffic has been passing through the cone zone fairly steadily during the day but there has been congestion and traffic standstills during peak periods and these will probably continue.
