I WRITE in reply to the recent letter from teenagers.
I know all teenagers are not bad, only the minority are unruly. But when they say they have nothing to do, I ask: "What about getting interested in some kind of sport?
There are some sports such as soccer, Rugby League, Rugby Union and athletics in Leigh willing to have them.
When I was young we were in the same fix (and we were under a Tory regime which did not care about the public, only cutting their pleasures and not finding them real jobs). But we never lowered ourselves to beating and terrorising old people.
And, referring to the Briarcroft building, who was it that destroyed it? It seems it was the young thugs, and where were the other young ones then to stop them?
I worked at Howe Bridge Colliery for almost 30 years and all the workmen and ladies paid every week towards it and took pride in Briarcroft and the Village Club.
Why do the minority of young ones have to vandalise everything? Why can't the good young people help to stop them?
