ANGLING-mad Henry Rothwell's so chuffed about a giant salmon he caught that he's had it mounted in a display case - for customers to admire!

Henry, 55, who owns the Angler's Den fishing tackle shop in Blackburn Road, Darwen, caught the beast from the River Esk in Scotland.

The hard-fighting brute took 40 minutes to tame on fragile fly tackle, and Henry couldn't believe his eyes when the tired fish succumbed to his net.

"It measures 48 inches long and is, without a shadow of a doubt, the fish of a lifetime," says Scots-born Henry.

"A lot of people who don't even fish come into the shop to admire it. They can't believe how big it is."

Angling definitely runs in Henry's family. His wife, Susan, is keener on the sport than he is.

"She's a pain in the backside," says Henry. "I daren't allow her in the shop because if she sees something she wants it."

And even Henry's mother-in-law, Mrs Yolanda Cottell, is mad about salmon. The energetic 76-year-old caught her first of the species three years ago...after a patient four-year wait.
