GREAT HARWOOD boss Martin Eatough's name is in the frame for the manager's job at Lancaster City - but he won't comment on speculation until a solid offer is made.

Eatough is a former fans' favourite after spending two years at the Unibond Premier Division outfit as club captain before leaving at the end of last season to rescue Great Harwood from relegation into League Division Two.

Eatough was put forward as a possible for the job by exiting Dolly Blues boss Alan Tinsley.

Eatough told the Citizen: "I'm flabbergasted. Only last week I was talking to Alan when Lancaster played at Accrington Stanley and there was no mention of him leaving.

"It is such a shock I just want to confirm it with the club before I make any decisions."

But an insider at Lancaster City believes Eatough is the only man for the job.

Colin Dyer, editor of Lancaster City's match programme, said: "I think he will be the fans' favourite and would do a great job. He cares about the club, commands respect and works very hard.

"Martin would consolidate our position in the league and is the obvious choice for the club's future progress."
