RUNSHAW College is again celebrating after receiving yet another accolade.

According to the Government's controversial league tables, Runshaw is one of the top colleges in the country.

Last year the college was 21st in the country, but has climbed again so it now sits comfortably inside the top 20 - out of 450 Further Education colleges!

On top of that, according to a survey in The Times, the college ranked inside the top ten - sixth - of all colleges in the Northwest.

This further boost comes just a fortnight after the college received one of the prestigious North West Quality Award, known as the Oscars in the workplace, for its focused management.

Last June the college was awarded a top class inspection report from the Further Education Fundings Council, who lavished the college with praise.

College spokesman Jim Smith said: "We are delighted with this official recognition in the league tables.

"Naturally, we are very proud of this success, which has enabled us to stay around the top 20 Further Education colleges."

College Principal Bernard O'Connell said: "We have already had a brilliant year and the addition of the best ever set of A-Level results is a further boost.

"It is a tremendous credit to all concerned, and wonderful for all staff and students at the college."
