PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice has backed calls for people in Kashmir to decide their own future.
He was speaking at a rally at Westminster attended by the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Pendle.
He said: "Many of my constituents have strong family or business ties with Kashmir and they have been devastated by the regular reports we get of human rights abuses by the Indian Army.
"There was clear evidence of coercion and intimidation of voters in the Indian General Election in Kashmir last May, and this colours our views on the legitimacy of the result."
