RIDER Andrew Sturdy is about to take on the challenge of saddling up for 25-mile two-day expedition.
But what makes the event more extraordinary is that not only is he blind, so is his horse, Joy.
Andrew, from Rossendale Road, Burnley, decided to take part in the sponsored walk to raised cash for the Lords House Farm Riding Therapy Centre, in Rishton, which he visits every week.
He chose 23-year-old Joy as his mount to lead the fund-raisers from Hornby to Sizergh Castle in Kendal, on December 21 and 22.
Blind and partially-sighted people will join them on their way to Kendal.
Anyone interested in doing the sponsored walk or help in any way should contact Mary Walker at Lords House Farm on 01254 876388 for a sponsor form.
