LOVE-STRUCK Mick Buckley used his initiative and proposed to his girlfriend - during an awards presentation for innovation!

The British Aerospace worker, based at Samlesbury, asked for 30 seconds on the microphone during an event organised to encourage positive thinking and motivation.

And his gamble paid off when Linda Fisher said yes in front of hundred workmates.

Mick, a material planner who lives in Preston, popped the question after receiving a silver award at the Samlesbury site's Chairman's Award for Innovation evening.

He said: "It just seemed like the right moment and I reckoned there would be more chance of Linda saying yes in front of all those people."

Award-winners have saved British Aerospace millions of pounds by improving quality, team work and customer service.
