EMERGENCY teams were put on stand-by early today when a gas leak was reported in Clitheroe.
Police and ambulance crews were informed of the incident in Hawthorne Place, Clitheroe at around 2am.
A spokesman for North West Gas said: "We received a number of reports about the smell of gas.
"A team was sent to investigate and we discovered a gas escape in a pipe running under a field near to Hawthorne Place. The leak has been repaired and no homes had to be evacuated."
